Series: Gratitude
Message: “Blessed To Be A Blessing”
Key Texts: Genesis 12:2; 2 Corinthians 9:11; Matthew 10:8 (“Freely…”); James 1:17; Luke 12:48 (“From everyone…”); John 13:35; Matthew 20:28; Ephesians 2:10
This week builds on the last three:
Gratitude doesn’t just change how we feel—it changes how we live. We are blessed so we can become a blessing.
1. Gratitude Looks Up… But Overflow Looks Out!
-
Gratitude changes your focus.
You stop obsessing over what you lack and start seeing what God has already given. -
Gratitude changes your posture.
It moves you from complaining to worship, from entitlement to humility. -
Gratitude changes your purpose.
You stop living just to get by and start living sent—with a mission to bless others.
2. We Give Because He Gave First
-
God’s blessings are meant to be poured out, not stagnate.
We are channels, not containers. What God puts in us is meant to flow through us. -
Giving is an overflow of grace.
We give because we’ve received—freely, fully, undeserved (Matthew 10:8; James 1:17). -
Gratitude kills greed.
A thankful heart loosens the grip of “mine” and opens the hand to “Yours, Lord.” -
Generosity is worship.
Every time we give, we’re saying with our actions, “God, I trust You more than my stuff.”
3. Gratitude Serves: Love in Action
-
Serving is how gratitude becomes visible.
People can’t see your feelings, but they can see your serving (John 13:35). -
Serving is how gratitude becomes powerful.
When we serve like Jesus, lives are changed—including our own (Matthew 20:28). -
Serving is how gratitude becomes missional.
We step into the good works God prepared for us (Ephesians 2:10), becoming living proof that we are blessed to be a blessing.
Bottom line:
Gratitude starts in the heart, but it doesn’t stay there.
It looks up to God, overflows to others, gives because He gave first, and serves with love in action.
