Gratitude – When Gratitude Feels Impossible
Habakkuk 3:17–19
November 9, 2025
We can choose gratitude even when life is painful and confusing. Gratitude doesn’t deny reality; it aligns our hearts with God’s will and presence in the middle of it.
Key Thoughts:
-
Gratitude Aligns Our Hearts With Heaven’s Will
It’s easy to be thankful when life is good. It’s much harder when we feel like we’re stuck in a storm. But faith thanks God even when it hurts. Like Habakkuk says, “Yet I will rejoice”—gratitude becomes an act of faith, not just a reaction to circumstances. -
Gratitude Is Greater Than What Is Lost
“I will be joyful in God my Savior…”
When it feels like everything has been stripped away, the best response is praise and gratitude. True gratitude shifts our focus from what we’ve lost to what we still have in Christ—and that can never be taken away. -
Worship Wins When Words Fail
We don’t need an answer for everything. Sometimes the most important thing is simply being present with God.
Worship reminds us He is sovereign. It may not always change our situation, but it will change us in the situation. Gratitude that costs you something becomes the very thing that leads you into victory.
Summary:
Even when gratitude feels impossible, we can still choose to rejoice like Habakkuk. Gratitude in pain realigns our hearts with heaven, moves our focus from loss to what remains in Christ, and invites God’s presence to transform us—especially when we don’t have the words or the answers.
