The God of Miracles…Today!
Hebrews 13:8
We serve a God who parted seas, opened blind eyes, and raised the dead. But somewhere along the way, many of us started treating those stories like history lessons instead of promises. This message is a reminder that the God of the Bible isn’t a God of was — He’s a God of is. The miracles haven’t stopped. But something in us might have.
1. God’s Power Has Not Changed
- Malachi 3:6 — He doesn’t change. Luke 1:37 — nothing is impossible with Him. These aren’t inspirational quotes; they’re the foundation.
- God hasn’t stopped doing miracles. Many of us have just stopped believing He can.
- The problem was never His power. The problem is our expectation.
- God doesn’t wait for circumstances to make sense before He declares what He can do in your life.
- He is the same God — yesterday, today, and forever. The question is whether we’re treating Him like it.
2. Our Expectation Determines Our Experience
- Mark 6:5–6 — even Jesus marveled at unbelief. The miracles were limited not by His power, but by their faith.
- Everything hinges on how we see God. We have to see Him for who He actually is.
- Our familiarity can quietly kill our expectation. We get comfortable with God — and we stop expecting anything from Him.
- You can be close to Jesus and still not believe Him for miracles. Proximity is not the same as faith.
- No matter how it comes — or if it comes in the way we expect — we still have to trust Him.
3. Miracles Are Experienced Where Faith Meets Obedience
- 2 Kings 5, John 9, John 2 — in each story, someone had to do something before they saw something.
- Your miracle may not happen on the first step — but it will happen if you keep walking in obedience.
- There are things God allows into our lives specifically so He can display His power through them.
- Some of us miss what God is doing because we need it to make sense first. We want to understand the method before we trust the miracle.
- We may be just one act of obedience away from a breakthrough.
- It doesn’t have to be dramatic — God honors obedience in the ordinary.
- He will take your ordinary obedience and turn it into something extraordinary.
Bottom Line: The God who performed miracles in Scripture is the same God you prayed to this morning. His power hasn’t changed — but maybe your expectation has. Bring your faith back to full. Step into obedience. The miracle isn’t behind you — it may be one step ahead.
